The Navocean II is an autonomous wind and solar powered vessel designed for offshore sailing in wind and sea states typical of the open ocean. Her exceptionally tough hull and rigging are designed to survive gales and storms while her small size allows for launch and retrieval by hand.

We are now conducting remote control tests of the Navocean II's sailing and handling characteristics. So far she has demonstrated the ability to make progress to windward and against currents in winds as high as 20 knots. We look forward to testing in stronger winds and our goal is to achieve station holding in 30+ knots of wind.

The Navocean II is currently outfitted with a Windsonic wind direction and speed sensor and a pitch/roll/heading accelerometer. Additional oceanographic sensors will be added in the near future.
